Duraboard FAQs
What are Furi Duraboards made from?
Furi Duraboards are made from approximately 80% FSC-certified pine wood fibres that are compressed under high heat and pressure, combined with 20% formaldehyde-free, food-grade resin that binds the fibres together into a durable, non-porous surface.
What is used to bind the FSC-certified pine wood fibres in Furi Duraboards?
The fibres are bound with a formaldehyde-free, food-grade resin that meets all LFGB food-contact safety requirements. This means it’s safe for everyday use in the kitchen and certified not to transfer harmful substances into food.
Do Furi Duraboards contain microplastics?
No. Furi Duraboards do not contain microplastics.
Are Furi Duraboards tested for food safety?
Yes. At Furi, we obsess over precision, not only in how a knife performs, but in the quality and integrity of every material we choose. Our Duraboards are independently tested, formaldehyde-free, and certified to meet European LFGB food-contact standards, one of the most stringent safety benchmarks worldwide. While Australian regulations require compliance with FDA standards, LFGB testing goes further. It specifically evaluates whether materials can transfer even trace amounts of unwanted or harmful substances into food. Only products that demonstrate zero risk of harmful migration pass. Our boards exceed these requirements, giving you complete confidence in everyday use.
How do I minimise the appearance of cut marks on Füri Duraboards?
Knives will naturally leave marks on cutting boards that are engineered to be kind to your blades. It’s a normal sign that the board (not your knife edge) is taking the impact. To reduce how visible those lines look, you can occasionally refresh the surface with a small amount of food-safe mineral oil. Apply a light film, then wipe away any excess with a clean cloth or paper towel. This helps even out the appearance of cut marks and keeps your Duraboard looking well cared for, without affecting its performance.
